Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)

Subsidy Approval:     EFAW Course is approved by Cyprus Human Resource Development Authority (CHRDA / ANAΔ) for subsidy / grant aid, which is available to companies who meet the criteria for eligibility of such grants.  Kalliopi First Aid Training offers assistance in the subsidy application process.

Approved Trainers:   Kalliopi First Aid Trainers / Assessors are certified by Cyprus Human Resource Development Authority (CHRDA / ANAΔ), to provide First Aid Training Programmes and satisfy the criteria for subsidy / grant aid.

Language:                   This course can be taught in either Greek or English.

Who Will Benefit:        This course is available to small, medium or large size companies or individuals who work or aspire to work in the following industries:  Hotels, Banks, Gyms, Public Swimming Pools, Supermarket & Shopping Centres & Malls, Schools & Universities, Health Clinics, Stadiums, Airport terminals, Bus Stations, Private or Municipal Lifeguards, exhibition spaces or any place frequented by general public.

Course Aims:              To enable participants to attain the skills and knowledge needed to perform effective First Aid in the workplace.

Information:                The EFAW training programme is approved and fully complies with the Cyprus Government Legislation which is in accordance with the latest (2015) European Resuscitation Council (ERC) Guidelines.

Course Includes:        6 hours of practical and theoretical First Aid & CPR training and assessment; Certification in EFAW; Training Materials; Manual & Examination; Assessment; Registration and Wall Certificate.

Course Objectives:    This course is designed to train and educate participants to understand the role of the First Aider and acquire knowledge in the techniques of confidently administering First Aid in the workplace.  It aims to train participant to assess and act safely in an emergency and administer appropriate first aid.  This course also covers first aid procedures using basic life support techniques and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Course Program:

1 Instructor per max. 15 students Knowledge Development:              
1 Oral Resuscitation mask for each student    Understand the role of the first aid responder
1 Manikin per 4 students          Identify importance of protection from cross infection
Latex or medical gloves – 1 pair per student   Identify information for accident report inclusion
Classroom audiovisual equipment                Identify first aid equipment for a named situation
Cleaning & Medical materials (dressings etc.)  Scene & Safety Assessment
Emergency assessment and appropriate action
Provide First Aid for an unresponsive casualty (including epilepsy)
Demonstrate Recovery Position
Manage a casualty experiencing a seizure
Recognise the requirement for & administer CPR
Identify signs & symptoms of cardiac arrest and manage casualty
Recognize & administer first aid for choking
Demonstrate how to control severe bleeding
Treating minor injuries (cuts/bruises/burns/splinters)

Certification:               After successfully completing all elements of the course, participants will be certified for EFAW for 3 years.

What We Offer:

“Approved First Aid Training Courses in Cyprus” We offer approved, First Aid at Work First Aid Training Courses in Cyprus including: Emergency First Aid at Work; First Aid at Work; Automated External Defibrillator and Pool Lifeguard.  Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training is made according to current guidelines of the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) guidelines 2015. Our experienced, multi-lingua (Greek, English, German), faculty instructors are certified by the Human Resources Development Authority (HRDA / ΑΝΑΔ / EEK) under its recently revised teaching specifications (2014) to provide grant-aided, subsidised educational seminars.
